  • 30 ounces Frozen Diced Hash Browns Freshly shredded potatoes can be used but might require precooking.

  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper Adjust to taste.
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese Experiment with Monterey Jack or pepper jack for varied taste.

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9 x 13 inch casserole dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the Italian sausage for about 6-8 minutes.
  3. Sauté the chopped yellow onions in the skillet for about 4-5 minutes until translucent.
  4. Combine the cooked sausage, sautéed onions, eggs, milk, frozen diced hash browns, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  5. Pour the mixture into the greased casserole dish and reserve 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese for topping.
  6. Bake the casserole uncovered for about 35 minutes, until edges are bubbly and center is slightly firm.
  7. Sprinkle the reserved cheddar cheese over the top and return to the oven for another 8 minutes.
  8. Allow the casserole to cool for 15-20 minutes before slicing and serving.
