Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Prep all ingredients by dicing one onion, mincing three garlic cloves, chopping parsley, and shredding six cups of mozzarella cheese.
  2. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown diced onion and ground beef for about five minutes.
  4. Stir in minced garlic, deglaze with red wine, and cook for another two minutes.
  5. Add marinara sauce, salt, black pepper, thyme, sugar, and parsley; let simmer for five minutes.
  6. Combine cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, three cups of mozzarella, egg, and Parmesan cheese until smooth in a mixing bowl.
  7. Cook traditional noodles in salted boiling water for 8-10 minutes until al dente. Drain and lay flat.
  8. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a 9x13 dish, layer three noodles, cheese mixture, and repeat for two more layers.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then broil for 3-5 minutes until the top is golden.
  10. Let the lasagna rest for 30 minutes before slicing.
