- In a medium saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over medium heat until golden brown and nutty.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together 2.5 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Combine the cooled brown butter, 1 cup of dark brown sugar, and 0.5 cup of granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl. Mix until fluffy.
- Add 2 large eggs one at a time, and then add 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 cup of dark chocolate chunks.
- For thicker cookies, chill the dough wrapped in plastic wrap for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Sprinkle with sea salt flakes while warm. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
